If you ever had a Texture Pack say it was not compatible with Minecraft because it was made for an older version, then you are in the right place.
This guide will teach you how to turn old Minecraft Texture Packs or Resource Packs into a compatible version for newer Minecraft releases. We will be using a software called Resource Pack Converter made by agentdid127, which will update older Resource Packs of Minecraft to make them work in the latest Minecraft version.
We will be using a jar file, therefore you will need to install Java on your computer.
How to Download Resource Pack Converter
First, to download the Resource Pack Converter, click here.
Once on the GitHub page, select the newest release or the pre-release if that is something you prefer. In this instance, we will use the latest release.
Once in the newest release, scroll down to find the Assets tab, and download the ResourcePackConverter-Gui.jar file.
Again, this is a Jar file, therefore you will need Java installed to use it.
How to Install Resource Pack Converter
Once we downloaded the Resource Pack Converter in the previous step, we now need to install it.
To begin the installation process, we need to locate the resource pack we are going to update, and then place it in the same folder as our Resource Pack Converter Jar file.
Now go ahead and double-click the Pack Converter or right-click and open it with Java.
- Select the version of the old Texture Pack.
- Select the version you want to convert the Texture Pack To.
- Hit Convert.
You now have a new zip document, this is the Texture Pack converted, this is the Texture Pack you will now add to your Resource Packs folder.
That is it, feel free to use your new and now compatible Texture Pack with Minecraft. Keep in mind that this only renews your Resource Pack, it does not update it or add any new texture, therefore some blocks might still look the same if the older texture pack does not include the newly added blocks in the latest release of Minecraft.
