How to Download and Install OpenIV

In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to download and install OpenIV for modding some of your games. One of the most popular game that you can mod with OpenIV is the GTA franchise.

Step 1 – How to Download OpenIV

Click the button on the right to be redirected to the OpenIV download website.

Once you are in the OpenIV.com site, you will click the download now button. (See image below for reference)

Once you clicked the download now button, your file will start downloading, if you are using Chrome you could find your file within the recent download tab, different browsers might vary, you can always go to your PC downloads folder.

Step 2 – How to Install OpenIV

Go ahead and launch the ovisetup.exe file that we downloaded in the previous step.

Now the OpenIV installation has started.

Click Continue.

Select “I accept the terms of this agreement” and click Continue

Check the installation path and if you prefer the default option, click Continue.

Select “Yes” for Do you want to continue?

Now just wait for the installation of OpenIV to finish and then click Close.

Step 3 – How to use OpenIV

After installing OpenIV in the previous step, go ahead and open the direct access icon to launch it.

Now go ahead and select the game and platform you are using OpenIV for.

In this guide, we will use GTA 5.

After you select the game, OpenIV will have you select the folder of installation for the game you selected.

Now you have to find the location for your game, if you installed your game through Epic Games or Steam, you can use the launcher to find the folder. The location will vary for everyone.

Here is a list of some Default Game Locations:

Epic Games – C:/ProgramFiles/Epic Games/Grand Theft Auto V
Steam – C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V
Rockstar – C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V

After you selected the game location, go ahead and click Continue within the OpenIV launcher.

Click Continue

Give OpenIV a couple seconds to load.

Now you should see your game files within the OpenIV interface. From here you can add mods, shaders, or any other idea you have in mind.
