What is CurseForge?
CurseForge is a popular platform and community for sharing and downloading mods, add-ons, texture packs, and other custom content for various video games. It was initially created for the game Minecraft, allowing players to enhance their gameplay experience by adding modifications created by the community.
CurseForge provides a centralized hub where game developers, modders, and content creators can upload and distribute their creations, making it easier for players to discover and install them. The platform supports multiple games beyond Minecraft, including World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls Online, and many others.
In addition to hosting and distributing mods, CurseForge also offers tools and resources for modders, such as version control, project management, issue tracking, and collaboration features. It serves as a vibrant community where players can interact, share ideas, and contribute to the development of mods and custom content.
CurseForge was originally developed by Curse Inc., which was acquired by Twitch Interactive in 2016. In 2020, Overwolf, a platform for in-game apps and mods, acquired CurseForge from Twitch, further expanding its support and reach within the gaming community.
